With archival photographs, travel back to the late 1800s and then dissolve, flawlessly, to the same scenes today. Wednesday, April 1 – 7:30 pm – Dale Johnson – “Beneath the Jungle and Beyond - Mesoamerica”

Approximately 1000 years before the time of Christ, a consortium of autonomous city/kingdoms developed and flourished in a region now mapped as southern Mexico, Belize, Guatemala and Honduras. They thrived until around the 9th Century AD, leaving behind astounding monuments to the energy, industry and ingenuity of their populations. Visit this region today, where the descendants of those ancient Maya live. Many are farmers, but some are cowboys. Modern cities contrast with remote villages, and both are a part of Central America today.
